Lawrence Square - North London
Client: Bellway Homes Value: £1.5m Design Responsibility: Part Duration: 24 Months
Our architecutural metalwork package was part of a large inner city housing development. We provided 192 balconies, communal walk ways and internal stair cores to four apartment blocks in North London. The tight location of this development required precision contract management to ensure that the planning and access restrictions in place were adhered to.
These consisted of mild steel framing, timber decking and frosted glass balustrades. We also fully designed, supplied and installed the soffit, fascia and water egress systems to the balconies.
The opaque toughened glass balustrades provide the residents with some privacy when using the balconies and the hardwood timber decking provides a softer touch than a traditional concrete slab. The same specification was used for the balustrades to the communal walkways.
To work within the tight constraints of the site, the balconies were designed to be fabricated offsite at our works in Nottingham with manageable sections being delivered and built on site.
